Broadband beginner

The stories on this website demonstrate the effects that broadband has made in two distinct types of community:

• Existing communities and charities that are improving the work and processes they already use
• The broadband-specific communities which, initially, were created to introduce and support broadband connectivity into rural locations, but end up having profound benefits on the everyday lives of the local communities where they operate

The benefits generated rely on the computers being used having a broadband internet connection. It provides a much faster connection than dial-up, as well as permanent internet access, without which the new opportunities would not be possible.

In addition, broadband allows the phone to be used at the same time as a computer is connected to the internet.
