Entertainment

High-quality entertainment is one of the fastest growing areas of the internet. Generally, if someone has looked at a movie or video on a dial-up connection, it’s not an experience to be repeated. With broadband, however, the experience is improved dramatically. This is great for watching music videos and film clips, but works equally well for catching up on TV and radio programmes (see www.bbc.co.uk/broadband). There are also plenty of learning opportunities too.

The same is true for audio. The internet provides access to hundreds of radio stations, worldwide; meaning Country and Western lovers can tune into Nashville direct! It also makes downloading music to buy much more straightforward - all types of music are widely available and you can usually listen before you buy.

As digital cameras become more common, broadband opens the door to sharing high-quality photos and prints with friends around the world (or the next street), or for sending to a printer to be developed onto paper.

It’s not just high-quality images; the extra broadband speed supports 3D graphics equally well, which allows computer gamers to compete with each other across the world.
